School
I graduated high school as a Vicksburg bulldog. I attended Western Michigan University for my undergraduate and graduate classes. I have minors in math, science, integrated creative arts, and a master's degree in early childhood education. This will be my 14th year teaching first grade in Otsego and I am happy to still be a bulldog!
family
I have been married to Mr. Griffith for twelve years. We have one daughter named Lydia, who is 9 years old a son named Carter, who is 6, and a 3 year old girl named Della. We also have a basset hound named Hank and a fish named Jackie. We feel SO blessed for the family we have!!
Hobbies
Outside of school I enjoy gardening, scrapbooking, playing music, and sports. I like being outside and playing with my kids. They love to help me pick vegetables in our family garden! Our family's favorite sport is baseball and we cheer on the Detroit Tigers. GO TIGERS!!!
Education Beliefs
I believe that young children learn best with movement and exploration. The brain and body connection are very powerful in developing language, senses, and motor skills. When children are fully emerged in lessons, deep learning and understanding take place. These things are key to stimulating and wiring the brain. This year, we will be singing, dancing, moving, and learning!!!
I need your help to continue what we learn in the classroom at home. Reading school publications, completing homework together, and speaking with your child about their day will reinforce what I have taught and also create a stronger bond between you and your child. Try to find ways to extend what we have learned in the classroom or dive in deeper to things that interest your child. I would love to help in any way possible. Communication between school and home are key to having a successful year.
